So while you upload an unlocked PDF, the recipient receives a stamped PDF that is password protected and locked. That helps to prevent the recipient simply editing the PDF and removing the stamp. That is to say, we lock the file and add a random password to it (we don't even know what the password is). It's important to note that after we stamp the PDF we lock it, so it can't be edited. If you upload a file that we are unable to stamp, we will disable stamping for the product and inform you that you need to attend to the issues preventing us stamping the file.
